On November 18, Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST: Kim Woong-seo, president) will launch an offering of research findings produced by KIOST through ScienceWatch, an institutional repository.* This will be a significant contribution to businesses, researchers and students who need information on marine science and technology studies by sector.
 * An institutional repository is an archive for collecting, preserving, and disseminating digital copies of intellectual output such as articles and reports produced by universities and research institutions.

ScienceWatch (https://sciwatch.kiost.ac.kr) is an open access archive that enables domestic and international users to freely access and use a collection of research data related to ocean science and technology.

All materials created by KIOST, including articles, conference materials, R&D reports, patents and books, will be accessible to the public through ScienceWatch, with searches possible by publication, research center and author.

The repository, which will be accessible through various academic search engines and portals, is expected to contribute to the international dissemination of domestic research on marine science and technology. Furthermore, finding researchers in a specific study area is made easy as the most popular themes and names of researchers participating in joint research will be shown.

KOIST president, Kim Woong-seo: “ScienceWatch’s repository, which is an archive of Korea’s marine science history, is open to all. It is our fervent wish that as sharing research outcomes increases the value of that information, ScienceWatch will provide significant momentum to our ocean science and technology as it leaps forward step by step.”
