: The Estuary
 (Marine Book Series vol. 18)

As part of its efforts to popularize Marine Science, the Republic of Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute (President, Kang, Jeung-geuk) has published Janus in Nature: The Estuary』, written by Cho, Hong-yeon, as vol. 18 of its <Future Marine Book Series>.

The newly published Janus in Nature: The Estuary is about the river mouth, "where the river meets the sea," a natural environment that is both complex and unique. Written by Cho, Hong-yeon, the book is vol. 18 of the <Future Marine Book Series>, a current project of the Institute. The book describes what an estuary is, and the marvelous natural phenomena that occur there, at a level that is suitable for young readers.

Republic of Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute publishes Janus in Nature: The Estuary (Marine Book Series vol. 18).

By providing a wealth of interesting examples and illustrations, the reader learns how a compromised estuary can be restored, how it can be developed for future use, and the relevant problems that are encountered in the process.

The author hopes that "by explaining the two-sided nature of the environment, and especially the estuary, the book will provide an opportunity for people to think about ways in which humanity and nature can better co-exist, in this age of contradicting policies with respect to nature."

The Future Marine Book Series is a series of educational books that is devoted to providing education about the sea, our future hope and realm of the unknown, as part of the Republic of Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute's plan to popularize Marine Science. Beginning in 2007 with the publication of Volume 1 of the Series, Plankton: Wanderer of the Sea, the Series now includes 18 volumes. The Series has received outstanding recommendations from the Republic of Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity, Ltd., Kyobo Books, Dong-A Ilbo, and Happy Morning Books (Co.).
