Jorge Manuel Paz Acosta, director of the Peruvian Marine Institute(IMARPE), visited Korea to attend the World Fishing Village Conference and visited KIOST to prevent robbery.

The heads of the two organizations wished for the successful progress of the projects currently being pursued by both organizations. In addition, Director Kang Je-hyung met and talked with Ursula Desilu Leon, vice minister of Peru's production department, at the opening ceremony of the World Fishing Village Competition.

Founded in 2012 by Korea (Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries) and Peru (Ministry of Production), Peru-Korea Joint Ocean Research Center was established in IMARPE and is jointly operated by KIOST and IMARPE.
